1. Treat your scalp
Let's get to the root of your hair growth problems, literally.
Your scalp health and roots are imperative to fast hair growth.
So, how to grow your hair fast?
Take care of your scalp!
Scalp healthy directly impacts hair growth as the strands themselves grow not just from, but through individuals follicles on your scalp.
Sebum (oil) is also produced from these follicles.
These are prone to blockages from dead skin cells, oil build-up, dandruff, inflammation and infection, and all other kinds of nasties.
When the follicles are blocked, hair can't grow through them.
If this is left unattended, follicles can become permanently blocked and cease to produce hair at all.
EEK!
So, how do you keep your scalp healthy and clean?
Simple really!
Wash your hair thoroughly at least once per week and brush once a day to distribute oil, break up build-up and stimulate blood flow.
You should also add a scalp exfoliant to your weekly hair care routine to scrub away any dead skin cells.

2. Cut it out to grow short hair out
Remember when you were little and your mum would drag you to the salon kicking a screaming telling you that trims are good for your hair?
Well turns out as always, "mama knows best".
(Also, why were we complaining about free cuts? Hindsight is a B*^%#).
Cutting your hair shorter to help it grow might sound redundant and lots of hair and beauty experts are divided on this one but hear me out.
Fast-growing hair equals healthy hair.
And healthy hair has fewer split ends.
Less dead ends also mean less breakage, which means longer locks.
So while getting regular trims might hinder the actual length of your locks, it will pay off big in the long run.
It will also help your hair look healthier and thicker in the meantime too.
I'm not saying you need to be in the salon once a week.
Trimming four to five inches every 10 or so weeks is enough to help grow short hair out fast.
So snip snip b*^%#.

3. Dirty hair, because you care
Over-washing is one of the biggest hair care mistakes you can make, especially if you're trying to grow your hair fast.
But, the same can be said for under washing.
Striking the right washing balance is extremely important to not just your social calendar, but also to your hair's overall health and growth.
Underwashing your locks means a dirty scalp, which as I mentioned in section one, is a massive no.
But overwashing means you strip your hair of its natural oil and depending on the type of products you're using, you can cause chemical build up too.
Overwashing can also cause breakage, hair loss and dehydration, so it's best to cut down on the cleaning.
Try washing your hair using good quality shampoo and conditioner once or twice a week.
If you find this is too little and you're left feeling dirty, you can cleanse your scalp with a gentle scrub and water once a week on a non-hair washing day.
Also, stockpile dry shampoo, you're gonna need it.

4. You are what you eat
Again, your mama was right when she told you to eat your veggies to grow big and strong.
Only in this case, it's "eat right to grow your hair thick and long."
So, How does your diet help your hair grow?
Sadly, the secret is not pizza and martinis.
Kind of the opposite actually.
But that doesn't mean it's boring!
A healthy hair diet is not restrictive and you can still enjoy all your favourite treats, the key is just moderation or swapping for a healthier alternative.
But, diet is actually one of the biggest players when it comes to growing your hair faster.
This works on two levels;
1. A diet lacking the right nutrients can lead to hair loss, and,
2. A diet containing the right nutrients doesn't just stop hair loss, but it also promotes hair growth.
Which is what we're all about.
So, what should you eat to grow your hair fast?
To increase hair growth your diet should be low-to-moderate in protein, low in sugar and high in unrefined carbs.
These foods include:
- Spinach
- Citrus Fruit
- Eggs (also consume in moderation as they can cause hormone imbalances)
- Nuts and Seeds
- Tofu and Tempeh
- Beans and Legumes
- Leafy Greens
- Berries
- Fatty fish, such as salmon (consume in moderation due to high mercury count)

5. What'sup
Another way to boost your hair's nutritional intake is by using performance enhancers.
And by that, I mean supplements and vitamins of course.
What were you thinking?
Improving your diet is the best way to help your hair, but it can take a few weeks to see some results.
And we are talking about how to grow your hair fast, so there's no harm in helping the process along.
The common nutritional deficiencies that cause hair loss are vitamin B complex (including B12), biotin and iron.
Adding a supplement to your daily routine will give you longer luscious locks in no time at all.

6. Fake it
How to grow short hair fast?
Don't.
Fake it till you make it, gurl.
Or, fake it till you grow it should I say!
You can grow your hair faster, but it's still going take some time to get the long luscious locks of your dreams.
So, why should you have to wait?
You can get long thick, healthier-looking locks right now.
How's that for "how to grow your hair fast"?
But of course, it's not your hair that's actually growing, I'm obviously talking about Halo Hair Extensions.
The reason I suggest halos when you're trying to grow your hair, is they're only hair extensions on the market that don't damage your hair.
So, if you're trying to grow your locks, clip-in, tape, bonded, microbeads or other hair extensions are a big NO.
While your hair might look longer while they're in, they actually have the opposite effect to what you want, in that they're causing hair loss.
Hair extensions like this damage your hair so severely that they can cause hair loss and bald spots. This is a little counterproductive if you're trying to grow your hair fast.
Or enjoy having hair at all, which I assume you do.
Halo Hair extensions are gentle and cause no hair loss making them the best hair extensions, especially for fine or damaged hair.
So if you want longer hair fast, halo hair extensions are the quickest and safest way to get there.

7. Snooze on silk to grow your hair fast
Wait, you're telling me I can grow my short hair out in my sleep?
Yes. That's exactly right.
Sleeping on silk is not just luxurious, but turns out it's also a handy hack to help your hair grow.
'How' you ask?
Cotton bedding cause friction which can tangle you locks causing breakage.
Cotton also dehydrates your hair and skin by drawing moister out of it.
Silk does the opposite.
It is smooth and silky, which prevents your hair from snagging and tangling while you move in your sleep.
It also helps your hair and skin retain moisture keeping it healthier and hydrated.

8. Let's get deep
Deep conditioning is an absolute must when it comes to how to grow short hair fast.
Especially if you're a curly girl.
The two biggest reasons your hair won't grow are, internal and external.
One, you aren't giving your body what it needs to support healthy hair growth.
And two, your hair is unhealthy, dry, brittle or has split ends which cause breakage and hair fall.
And while these issues can be caused by internal factors too, they can also be caused and helped externally by using hair treatments.
This is where deep conditioning is important.
Deep conditioning strengthens your locks and improves elasticity, so it is crucial to preventing damage which causes breakage and split ends.
It also promotes shiny strands and helps to hydrate your hair.
These are all big ticks on the growing-your-hair-out checklist.
So, how do you properly deep condition your hair?
Firstly, this should be done regularly, but definitely not daily. Doing it too often will cause a build-up of product and weigh your hair down.
You should still only use the regular amount of conditioner, just leave it for longer than you normally would.
I'd suggest around 30 minutes.
You should also use heat when deep conditioning to open your cuticles. This can be done by wrapping your hair in a warm microfiber wrap to trap the heat and steam in.
Rinse with cool water to help seal the cuticles and trap in all the goodness.
